Ruffler Foot

Does your sewing machine have the option of attaching a ruffler foot? If it does, you should DEFINATELY get one! They are so much fun! Makes ruffles in about 30 seconds and they look fabulous! I'm ruffling everything that doesn't move!  Ooops...... there goes the dog...

The Bee Hive

The sewing room has been a bee hive lately...pieces of new bags/purses are waiting to get cut up, sewn up, and made-over! They will then hang out with other purse friends until they get shipped off to Minneapolis for the Handmade Market at The Creative Connection Event in Sept. Almost done writing the new pattern for this one then our sewing buddies will "test-drive" the pattern for accuracy then it goes off to the printer! YAHOO! MY FIRST PATTERN!
The black/white fabrics are for the same pattern and the red is for a different one. Three more are sketched out and ready to have a prototype sewn, then patterns written. Keeps me off the streets and out of trouble I guess!!

Spring Time Rain

Get a load of these 2 crazy 8th graders running around in the front yard in a downpour!

The one in blue is mine,  the "orange" one is happily one of my "extra" kids (and they are both a kick in the pants)!!

Tech Savvy--NOT!

Nobody (especially my kids) has ever accused me of being tech savvy! However, I have learned so much the past few months in order to get this blog and the Etsy Shop up and going. Having so much fun tweeking all the gadgets and stuff and finally have a set-up I like. This trial and error thing takes a long time but a good way to learn! Now working on adding new bags to the Etsy Shop! Lots to do!

My Little Krissy

Happy to introduce you to Kristen, the youngest in our family! She is 14, has TONS of spunk and enthusiasm, is a great soccer player, has chosen great friends and can be a stinker at times! She is the 2nd from left, the other two are her dear friends and that's me on the far right. We were all dressed in pink for a special Wear Pink Day the community was hosting at a local basketball tourny this past winter. We've been out of town most weekends since April for soccer games/tournaments for Kristen. This weekend's forecast looks cool and rainy in Kalispell, MT where here game is on Saturday!:( Oh 'sigh', she's only 14 for a year!

Gotta enjoy em while we can!!!

Spring Time in Seattle

Traveled out to the Seattle area on Thursday with the whole fam for a wedding. In Montana, we are still waiting for things to bloom and finish greening up but here in the far Northwest, everything is lush, green and colorful. My sister-in-law and bro-in-law have a beautiful home and that creative bro-in-law has made their back yard into an extraordinary work-of-art. He has added things onto the waterfall and it is absolutely stunning! Planning to use it for a background for a nice family pic before we leave.

New Handles

A few posts ago I was auditioning fabrics to go with new purse handles and finally came up with something totally different than I started out with. Made this over the weekend.

Quilt Retreat

Thought I'd show a few pics of some of the things I worked on over the weekend at a quilt retreat. This is a smaller version of The Bow Tucks Tote by Penny Sturgis of Quilts Illustrated.

This bag is still waiting for handles. Made it using Sherri Falls pattern of This and That from the 2009 issue of Fast and Fabulous Quilting Ideas by Better Homes and Gardens. Fun to make!

These are some of the ruffles on a purse I'm designing. Too obnoxious at this point I think!

I did several more items but not quite finished yet and two items were sold at the retreat and I didn't get pics. Sure had fun there but it always goes by too fast~

Happy Mothers Day! Had a great weekend away with friends at a quilt retreat. Stayed up yaking and sewing until way too late every night but we all had a blast and accomplished alot! I finished 4 purses, 1 charm-pack apron and a smock apron, started a new purse design using the ruffler foot on my sewing machine and got lots of other ideas for future projects. Will post some pics tomorrow of what I made. Happy Mothers Day to my sister Missy!!

Final Project Post for Bag Challenge

Well...here is my FINAL PROJECT for the Mom's Like Me Bag Challenge! I call it The Mod Mom Diaper Bag. I wanted to make a diaper bag roomy enough to hold all the necessities of a young mom yet looked mod and un-like the "old style" diaper bags. It can be worn across the front of the body from the shoulder to the opposite hip and still be comfortable on the shoulder as the shoulder strap is wider than usual (3" wide). There are 4 large pockets inside, as well as 4 smaller pockets. The inside will certainly hold plenty of diapers, extra change-of-clothes for baby, wipes and still room for more. On the outside front of the bag, there are 2 5" x 5" pockets for carrying baby bottles, keys, toys, etc. Each side has a 4" w x 3 1/2" h pocket. These are the perfect size for carrying a cell phone, pacifier, keys, etc. The front flap is equiped with a magnetic snap for easy opening/closing. The bag measures 14" w x 11" h x 6" deep (without handles), 26" high with handles. The outside fabrics are called Oz by Sanae for Moda Fabrics and is slightly heavier weight than cotton quilting fabrics. Inside is a cute lime colored print that actually looks like newsprint and is called Authentic by Sweetwater for Moda Fabrics. A silver buckle on the front flap adds a simple touch of character. Wish I would have had a cute Mod Mom Diaper Bag
when my kiddos were babies! Writing a pattern for this one! I'll have them on my Etsy Shop soon!
