HAPPY BIRTHDAY KRISTEN!

Note: I tried to post this on Christmas but my stupid awsome server was having problems!

Our daughter Kristen was born on Christmas day 15 years ago...best little present we ever received on Christmas!! She is our youngest, a total kick in the pants, great sense of humor, darling sense of style and excited to take driver's ed soon! EEK! About a week ago I asked her what I should blog about and she wrote a little something for me. I told her I would save it and post it on her birthday so...read on to see what she wrote about herself as if it was coming from me.

Kristen and her brother Landon on their way to their cousin's wedding.
As Per Kristen: My almost 15 year old daughter just informed me a few weeks ago that she is going to college at oxford university. Then after she graduates she is going to become the first women President. But as it turns out she doesnt want to become president anymore. Instead she is going to become an actress and her and her brother are going to move to Beverly hills and live together while he works at Costco. She is quite an intelligent person.

Kristen (Rt) and cuzin Ashton

Kristen (center) and friends, Winter Formal.

Kristen and friend Erika.
Funny girl that Kristen! I'm a bit disappointed about her not becoming president because she had said I could decorate the White House for Christmas while she was living there. Oh well....on to plan B...whatever that is!

Farm Girl

I wanna be a farm girl!  A few of you know that but I've been thinking about it alot lately. Would love to have a few acres, a studio/shop in a big ole barn somewhere with age-old trees around it, wear worn cowgirl boots that have chicken shiznit on them from collecting the eggs, have a few chickens and goats and maybe a barn cat or 2, have a big garden with pumpkins, squash, rhubarb, potatoes, and onions. Thinking: wonder if my Shih-tzu dog would be considered livestock...hmmm.

Well this a.m. when I was perusing blogs for inspiration for my day, I stumbled upon The Urban Farmgirl
http://urbanfarmgirlandco.blogspot.com/   Heavens! I started hyperventilating then emailed my friend Cathee and told her she just had to go look at that blog, especially the Dec. 7, 2010 post about the Northwind Perennial Farm in Burlington, WI. Cathee and I have talked for years about having a cute antiques/stuff shop in a cute old outbuilding some day. This is the dream through blog pictures for sure! Take a peek! (As always you can click on the pic to enlarge) Enjoy!

What, what...oh...sorry....better wake up before I hurt somebody!  Never hurts to dream though right?

The Annual Cookie Party

Friday night I went to my friend Cathee's house where we celebrated friendship and Christmas at the 14th annual cookie and ornament exchange. At least we think it's around 14 years we've been doing this. We all look so forward to this event and we have all known each other for more than those 14 years because most of us used to be neighbors. Several of us have moved to other houses but we still enjoy getting together and catching up on each other's lives. Last year we had a dress-up theme: vintage prom dresses, and this year the theme was favorite apron. They were all so cute!

Jule, Beverly and Cathee (the hostess).  Don't let these angelic faces fool you...these girls are CRAZY!

Jenny, Dawn, Lisa and Lisa. Dawn brought her cigarette (looks totally real but it's not and the tip lights up just like a real one when you puff on it!)  Lisa is "smoking" it here...it got passed around!

Dawn  "smokes" only when she drinks punch! The table behind the couch is full of platters of our cookies waiting to be divyed up.

Jacquie, Diana, Gaylene (winner of the cutest apron), Kathy and Joan.
Trying to help Cathee think of a theme for next year...how about a Farm Girl theme? Got any better ideas? Leave a comment and let me know!

Attic 24 Blog

Well I thought since it's Friday you all needed something to start the weekend off perky. If this gal isn't perky, I don't know who is! Her name is Lucy, a stay at home mum with 3 children, living in the North of England in a 100 year-old house that they are slowly renovating. She is a doll! You can't help but get drawn in by her enthusiasm and appreciation for the "small" things in life. Below is a piece of her latest blog post but you simply MUST read the whole post! Head on over to her blog for your Friday dose of PERKY...you'll be glad you did!!  http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/2010/12/crochet-christmas-decorations.html
Hello, and welcome to a beautifully bright and festive hooky Ta-dah day! Yippeeee, my favourite kind of a day!!! Firstly though, I'd like to say thank you ever so much for all your wonderfully enthusiastic responses to the early glimpses of these little decs in my last post, I really love it when you love what I'm up to. Thank you.....I think you're going to like today's pictures!!

I've been so incredibly happy immersing myself in this latest project, it's honestly had me leaping off the furniture with pure giddy excitement. It's been really good to have my old creative bounce back I have to say.
