Holy Cow it's been 3 weeks since I've posted anything! Not for lack of trying because I have attempted several times to post a few of my own pics but can't quite figure out how to tweak them so they look nicer and brighter. We have a new laptop and I still can't get the hang of the photo program. Liked the old one better!! So...I will show you a nice collage I found on Tumblr from Tiny White Daisies; takes me right back to my childhood! Sigh.....

Don't you just love this picture of 2 prescious little girls so immersed in the candy bin? LOVE their Scandanavian-look dresses and their miniature shopping cart! Guess they just couldn't resist going after a few pieces of sugary candy, after all, they have such healthy foods in their cart!! This one makes me smile every time I look at it!!

I know it's a little early to be talking about Christmas (although it is only 2 1/2 months away)! But I just couldn't resist showing you this adorable burlap stocking! Burlap, linen and other strong textural fabrics are so popular in home dec lately and I just love the contrast of rough or wrinkly with lovely, lacey or satiny. You can see more of this delightful style on Dear Lillie's blog! She has such a serene and classy style. Fix yourself a cup of tea and stop by and visit her here.

I have finally had a chance to tidy up the sewing room and get busy on the machine! Made a sample of my Mod Girl Purse pattern for The Sewing Palace last week. They have received a few new rolls of laminate fabrics and this pink/red one is designed by Joel Dewberry. I enjoy using laminate fabrics and hope to find a few more ideas to use some in! Maybe when my daughter brings home her school books I'll nab them and give them a fresh cover of laminate instead of the basic old boring brown-bag cover! There are some tips and tricks to sewing with laminate and Amy Butler has grasciously posted them on her web site. You can find them here.

The new pattern for My Full "Charm"ing Apron Pattern is almost finished and here is how it looks with the bib added to it. The half and full apron patterns are both completely reversible so you really have two aprons in one! (As always, you can click on each picture to view a larger image).

The nights and early mornings are starting to feel a bit cooler. I love this time of year when the days are still beautiful and warm but the anticipation of back-to-school and Autumn is lurking just around the corner. If, like me, you can't wait to drag out your Fall decor and start cozying-up your nest, then take a peak into Autumn With Matthew Mead !
And if this featured artist doesn't tickle your Halloween fancy then you'd better check your pulse! She and her paper mache' figures are just too adorable for words!!

Pop on over to Matthew's blog to see what other fun things he, his wife and the rest of their talented crew are up to in this issue! You will also be able to order the current issue of this wonderful book-a-zine as it is not sold in stores. So run....don't walk to Autumn With Matthew Mead !!

GreenGate is a company in Denmark that carries THE CUTEST kitchen and housewares items. I haven't found where you can buy their things in the US yet but that's probably a good thing since I would be plum broke buying everything in their catalog! You can take a sneak peak at The GreenGate Winter Catalog 2011 by clicking here . You'll LOVE it!!!

I actually was able to do a little sewing this week! Not getting much done this summer since the past week we have had a fun family reunion going on out at the lake. I'm not crushed not be able to sew since last summer that's all I did, getting ready for The Creative Connection. Patterns to write, proof and print, purses and aprons to sew, packing and shipping 14 large boxes to Minneapolis ahead of the show...exhausting but a great experience!

Every year for the past 10 years or so our local private school Carroll College, puts on a symphony concert on their campus in July. This year's music was 40's Harlem. For a smaller city we sure have a wonderful symphony orchestra! This event is free to the public and people arrive early in the day to lay out blankets and chairs to save spots for the evening. The weather was perfect this year (previous years have sometimes been hot and smokey from surrounding forest fires). They estimate about 10,000 peeps show up to take in the festivities. You wouldn't believe the fireworks during the finale! They are spectacular!! During the final song the fireworks go off behind the football stadium while the orchestra is still playing. Life just doesn't get any better at that moment.....sigh....

Talk about crazy weather around the country this year!! Well here in Montana we have had a very long winter, a long cool Spring and a......um...an odd summer. This past week we've had temps in the 80's but later in the day we get a few thunder showers. Yesterday the rain came, followed by hail. Lots of hail! Some of it was pea size and some almost the size of ping pong balls! Looks like a lovely winter snowfall doesn't it? The give-away clue here is the green grass under the "snow/hail". My daughter and her friend couldn't resist going out and playing in it (notice the bare feet which turned out to be very COLD feet!! Goofy

Well our little Emily graduated this past weekend. I say little because time has flown by so fast that it doesn't seem as though she should be graduating already! We were so blessed to have the first day of beautiful weather in ages which was wonderful for holding the ceremony outdoors. Then Sunday's weather was perfect for her outdoor party at home! Whew! Sweated that one a little since we have had non-stop rainy cooler weather lately. But of course the rain reappeared on Monday and should stay all week.

My friend Kathy V. purchased one of my kits last week to make a Mod Girl Purse for her son's girlfriend. She had not used her new sewing machine for a year and this is the second purse she has made in the last few weeks. Not sure how much fabric and trim she has bought lately but I think we have created a monster! hee hee!
Kathy is maticulous in her work and loves picking fabrics and trims. She really does a beautiful job! Thought you might like to see some of her recent handiwork...this bag is just too cute to keep to myself!
