Been busy sewing

I've been working on a few samples and a custom order lately, even though the Fall weather hasn't exactly felt like Fall weather, which usually puts me in a sewing mood. Just a few snaps to prove I've actually been sewing!

Chloe, my personal assistant and I have been bouncing ideas off of each other about what to make with these yummy new fabrics I purchased recently in Spokane, WA. My daughter and I were able to "hit" 2 of my favoritist shops:  The Quilting Bee  and  The Top Stitch.  We also attended The Farm Chicks Show but more on that later!

p.s.   Chloe you need your summer haircut!

Sneak Peak/Exclusively Quilters

Last week I received some brand new fabrics from Exclusively Quilters fabric company...fabrics that haven't hit the market yet! They had asked if I would stitch up my Mod Girl Purse Pattern using their Urban Blooms line of fabrics. I had so much fun sewing with this new line, I mean.....who wouldn't? It is so cheerful and happy and the minute I saw the fabrics they just sort of  "told me" exactly how I should arrange each piece in the pattern! Ok, so it wasn't an audible voice but the fabrics spoke nonetheless! hee hee!

They sent enough fabric that I was actually able to make an apron using my pattern  My "Charm"ing Apron as well. It is reversible with the "back" side being pink with a black pocket. Exclusively Quilters also sent the cutest black metallic ric rac. I hadn't seen the metallic before but it was fun to use and really spiced up the look of the purse and apron!
You can see better pics of these new fabrics on the Exclusively Quilter's/Classic Cottons website here. And if you are attending Quilt Market in May in Kansas City, visit their booth and see all the fun new fabrics they will be showing! You'll see this purse and apron there too!!

Black and White

Black and white, the ultimate contrast. Those colors together always seem to catch my eye.

I love buying and sewing with charm packs because they are so well coordinated with all the fabrics in a whole line. I have added a bib to my reversible apron pattern and am finishing writing it. It will be called  My Full "Charm"-ing Apron pattern. (The half-apron pattern called  My "Charm"-ing Apron is available by clicking on my side-bar.) Sometimes the "back" side of the apron is not as much fun as the front but I get a kick out of both sides of this apron!  This black and white cutie is heading over to my Etsy Shop for sale!!

Today's Project - A Stitch in Color

Have you seen the new fabrics from Moda called A Stitch In Color by Malka Dubrawsky? They are full of fun colors like teal, gray, organge, citron, red and splashes of white. Soooo cute! I bought a charm pack the other day and whipped up an apron and have one more laid out on the floor (see last 2 photos in this post for finished apron).

So before my local shop ran out of charm packs and yardage I dashed there and bought more to make a baby quilt for a darling couple who are expecting their first baby (a girly)!  This new mommy likes bright colors and patterns so I was excited to get going on this with these fabrics! I cut the charm pack squares into quarters and laid them out onto one piece of fabric and will just top stitch down the rows from top to bottom and side to side, through the top/batting/and backing. Quilt-as-you-go! Easy!

Thought I might pick the polkadot on the right (citron with teal dots) to make a ruffle around the edge of the quilt.

Pattern is called My "Charm"ing Apron . You can purchase the pattern on my side bar.

Stash Envy

I think this is where the Chinese came up with the term "The Great Wall" !! I am suffering from severe "Stash Envy" today~Yes it is a serious illness and very contagious!! These pics are from Olabelhe on Pinterest. Olabelhe is a FABULOUS children's clothing pattern company run by a busy lady named Dawn. I love her aesthetic because she has such an up-to-date/vintage look to her little-girl dresses. Absolutely beautiful sewing!

Sewing in 2011

Sewing is one of my favorite hobbies/passions! This past year wasn't quite as fruitful as the year before because I was working frantically in 2010 to ready my booth and inventory for The Creative Connection. But I did accomplish a few things so thought I would refresh my memory.

Sample of my own pattern The In-Town Bag that I made for The Sewing Palace.

The Mod Girl Purse pattern made by my friend Kathy from one of my kits.

The rest are all aprons made using My "Charm"-ing Apron pattern....some were made as gifts for friends,  some were made as samples. All were made just to keep myself off the streets and out of trouble really! hee hee

Pinterest Addiction

Pinterest Addiction = Over-stimulation of the brain

Gray and yellow seems to be everywhere these days!! And I am LOVING it! Have never been a big fan of either color but recently purchased several pieces of gray clothing. Guess now that the holidays are over I feel a need to add some "freshness" to my closet. Pinterest is a great way to view lots of great new styles and trends. But beware: Pinterest is HIGHLY addictive!!! You can view the Pinterest homepage here and my Pinterest page here. Enjoy!!
